Finish Along 2014 – Quarter 2 Finishes

 

I really finished a lot this quarter, totally proud of myself. Finished 3 out of 5 things. Here is my to-do-list for quarter 2.

Q2 FAL – Finish # 1 – Dresden Pillow

My first finish for this Quarter and I really love it, and never thought that dresden is this easy, dont know why I waited so long to try them.   This pillow is listed here in the Q2 FAL List.

Q2 FAL – Finish # 2 – Hexie Pillow

Somehow I deleted my other 2 finishes so I have to post them again. Here is my second pillow using a tutorial by Modern Handcraft. It was a total mess and I found it quite hard with all this glueing stuff, but somehow i got it finished. Its far from perfect, but I like it.  This pillow is listed here in the Q2 FAL List.

Q2 FAL & AYOLF April – Finish #3 – Every Which Way

Finished my very first quilt with my own pattern and couldnt love it anymore. I wanted to take some great outdoor shots, but since weeks the weather is now just rainy, cloudy, windy or something else, thats not great for being outdoors with a new quilt. So I decided to take them later and just do some indoor pics in the kids room. Amelie already loves her quilt, even if its not yet gifted to her.   This quilt is listed here in the Q2 FAL List.

Backing + Binding: Acacia by Tula Pink & Lottie Da by Heather Bailey

Quilting: diagonal lines, stitch in the ditch, outlines,

straight lines to form diamonds

Q2 FAL and AYOLF lists

Time is flying and the new Q2 in the FAL is starting. Last quarter I got 2 of 3 things finished, but this quarter my list will be a bit longer, have quite a few things started, that really need to get finished. Link up your list over at The Littlest Thistle.

1)  Friendshipstar Quilt – Carrying it over from last quarter.  It’s my very own quilt and it really needs to get finished, laying around since 3 years now. Right now it is half quilted, and I hope to snuggle under it really soon.

2) Every Which Way – started it in the last month for my daughter using my own pattern, that will soon be released. Need to finish quilting and binding. This will also be my April goal for A Lovely Year of Finishes.

3) QAL Cushion – just pieced the top of the cushion in 2013 and since this its waiting, maybe coz Im not so happy with the colors I have chosen, but it really needs to get finished.

4) Dresden Cushion – my very first dresden, will turn it into a cushion as a birthday present for my aunt

5) Hexie Cushion – Another birthday cushion, this time with a lot of Hexies, will use Modern Handcrafts tutorial.

Hope to get a lot of this list done in this quarter, it will be a busy time with my wedding at the end of may, but Im sure I can get at least half of them finished.

2014 Q1 Finish Along – #2 – Wedding Quilt

Totally happy that I completed another project from my Finish Along List, this time its our wedding quilt, I created especially for our wedding May 31, 2014. And so happy its finished just in time, to display it there. After finishing I decided to stitch the date on it too, but this didnt happen yet. First time I tried something else than just loops with FMQ. I did woodgrain on the background, so it will look like the heart is carved in a tree, its a bit hard to see on the pictures.

2014 Q1 Finish Along – #1 – Woodland Sampler

FAL 2014

Im totally proud of myself that I finished my first cross stitch sampler. After Ida was born in october I had rarely time to stitch on it, and already feared it would and in the closet. But my oldest daughter Amelie encouraged me nearly everyday and told me to stitch on it, coz she wants it for her room. She patiently stood beside me and watched while I was stitching, okay there was a lot of commenting my stitching the designer and other stuff in between, but she was really cute. At the end she decided, that her younger sisters could have it for their room and she already claimed the new cross stitch sampler for 2014 coz of its fairy tale theme.

I just changed a few things, the colors are not exactly the same, I used what I had in my stash, and we decided on skipping the year number too.

Finish Along 2014 – Quarter 1

 

I totally missed the last Finish Along sign-up coz my daughter was born at this time, so Im happy to join this one. I have quite a few WIP’s, I want/need to finish.

1) Heart Weddingquilt –- Started it a few weeks ago and need it finished for my wedding end of may.

2) Friendshipstarquilt -– it still is only 1/3 quilted right now

3) Woodland Sampler –- right now stitching on November

I will ad just 2 quilts! I dont want to ad too much, that I cant complete in this timeframe. And I really want this 2 finished till October 1, 2013. Its the first time Im joining this, so I really hope I can finishe at least one.´

1. Triangle Quilt -– for my little one Enya. I just started it about a month ago, but since I dont know how to finish it the best way. Its waiting now for me since 2 weeks.

2. Friendshipstar Quilt -– my very own quilt – waiting now since 2 years for being quilted, started quilting a few month ago, but Im only 1/9 done, so not much.
