WIP Wednesday – Great Progress

 

Tomorrow our vacation starts and Im already totally exhausted from packing all this things into suitcases and bags. Vacation and I mean more the camping vacation is not so much fun to pack for. I have endless lists, what we need to take with us. But I totally love to cross things of, yeah Im a huge list lover. I will gone until the 17th august, but Im sure you wont really miss me, because I scheduled a lot of posts for you, including a tutorial,  and a queen bee feature too. Just my WIP Wednesday posts will take a break, coz I cant take my sewing machine, to a camping holiday. Can I?

Finished:

Chasing Posies Pillow - I totally love these new 20” pillows, I made for my grandma and her sister. So sure they coordinate. And the best is, you get a free tutorial on friday to make your own.

Humming Bird Bee Blocks - they are already sent to their new home in new zealand, more about my first ever bee next tuesday

Nail Polish Pouches - I got totally addicted by them, when I saw the new nail polish pattern at the fat quarter shop blog. And had immediately make my own. The pattern was just too big, so I made it up myself in EQ7 and paper pieced it. The little pouch is just 3.5” x 5.5” and holds 3 nail polish inside. I just couldnt go to bed until I finished this cute pouch, a thing I normally dont do. I really need my sleep. So yesterday morning I decided to make a bigger one, this time I paper pieced it 6” x 8”. I love them both and most I love that I had the perfect zipper colors in my stash for them.

Ongoing:

Home Sweet Home - got a lot done with my new stitching project and hope to finish it during my vacation and then get my first cross stitch pattern to my craftsy shop.

Secret Project - Already ordered more Kona Snow

Caravan Pillow–- just finished the paper piecing on my caravan, but now it has to wait till I get my machine back and then I will turn it into a cute pillow for my dad.

Double Bed Quilt -– Fabric arrived finally.

Every Which Way Pillow #2 - finished, just need to take some pictures Friendshipstar Quilt - is finished (just need to photograph it)

WIP Wednesday – So many finishes (long post)

 

Yesterday was another happy mail day, but not fabric this time. My wool arrived to finish my “Kira” the kangaroo doll and do a few of the other laylala dolls.

 

 

Started:

Caravan Paper Piecing –- I started my next paper piecing project 2 days ago, and nearly finished all tiny bits, but then I had to stop coz I got a major headache and I just had to lay down. But tomorrow I had a sewing day over at a lovely friends house. Im impressed we even found time to sew with all 6 kids together, but they behaved really well and so I got nearly my whole caravan finished.

Finished:

Paper Piecing –- Started this cute Flower Pot Pattern “Hello Spring” by Charise Creates, last week and totally loved it, how easy it was. My second paper piecing project and Im already addicted to it.

 

Since a long time now I wanted to make one of these pouches by noodlehead, but not sure I just wasnt thinking really logical lol, coz after cutting the corners, I immediately knew I did something really stupid. Yes now I have the flower pot on the bottom. Its just for me so I dont mind, the pouch is still the cutest I have ever made, and really really big. Now I can fit in all my sewing notions when I go on my guild meeting.

Summer Sparkler - I totally love all those cross stitch patterns by The Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery and had to stitch it immediately when I saw it, its just the cutest. Even Im not American, I loved it, it will go into a miniquilt for my lovely friend Tanyia.

Key Fobs –- I also tried my hand on some key fobs. The first one was a bit too soft, so I made another one with a more stiff batting and I love it, its already on my keys.

Dresden Pillow -– My mom requested another pillow in the colorway she already got a few things. This are not my colors, definitely not, but I have to say I really like this pillow now.

Circle Of Geese Pillow – Detailed

 

I mentioned a few days ago, that I want to show a bit more about my Circle of Geese Pillow I finished this week. It’s far from perfect, but I totally love it. It was the first time since 2 years that I did some paper piecing again, and I really enjoyed the whole process. Great that this pattern is really forgiving aber tiny mistakes, you can easily ad more background if a part is too short, and after quitling, no one will notice it. Also a first for me in quilting pebbles (middle section), they arent too bad like i first thought and on the outside I tried swirls and clams. I thought they would be easier, but I think I just need more practice in free-motion quilting.

The back is just a few leftover scraps from the triangles I used on the front. And I tried my hand on zippers again. Was totally proud that I didnt needed a seam ripper for the first time. It just fits perfectly in.

WIP Wednesday – Happy Mail and 2 Finishes

Yesterday was a happy mail day over here, already started planning some more projects with my new Bundles. I got Hothouse Flowers & Sweet As Honey, my first sidekick ruler by jaybirquilts and over 100 zippers from zipit.

Finished:

Circle of Geese Pillow -– Got so excited when my new printer arrived, so I had to do some paper piecing. Totally missed it the last 2 years without. And the best part its already finished. Glad my zippers arrived yesterday. Did a zipper closure and for the first time it worked like a charm no struggling or ripping out a thousand times, just one try and perfect fit. Why cant they all be this way? Will do a separate post with more close-up shots soon.



Pouch for my father -– This one is also finished since yesterday and I totally like it. Its really big, 12” wide, but he requested it this way. I used again the tutorial by 1/4 inch mark. Also included pockets inside. Now just hoping he likes it.

WIP Wednesday – Didnt got much done

 

Just 4 more days until I’m married and still so much to do, that has to wait until one day before the wedding. So Im sure, friday I will be totally stressed out, but I fear sleeping will be overrated. Yesterday evening we worked nearly 2 hours just to make the nametags on the lemons and prepare the guest presents.

I have a big picture lack this week, didnt got much done, like I hoped.

Finished:

Wedding Ring Cushion -– I totally love how it turned out, cant wait to display it at my wedding ceremony.

Ongoing:

Hubbys Bedquilt -– Finished all the quilting on it, attached the binding already, so I just have to handbind it. Totally love this stripey binding.

Everyday Bag -– no more progress on this, ordered a metal part, but no one has it, so I have to wait, and really hope now to meet the finish deadline.

Daffodil Days Pillow -– Found a really great tutorial for  sewing curves by Berry Barn Designs, and decided it was really  time to try them out, and dont be too scared anymore. What shall I say it was really not this scary and was finished quite fast. Still have to improve my on point piecing with curves but I like it. And its finally after more than 2 years a new pillow for our home.

WIP Wednesday – Lots Of Quilting Done

 

Sun is coming out already, Im sure it will be a great day, especially Amelie is going back to kindergarten after a long time illness and more than 1 week easter vacation. And its really a relief to have the normal days back. And totally excited, this evening I will join my first ever guild meeting. Preparing some handbinding stuff to take with me.

Started:

Every Which Way Pillow – coordinated pillow to Amelies quilt is nearly finished. First Time I did so much quilting on a project, but the texture is amazing, totally love it. not perfect, especially in the corners, but from far away you wont see it and my little girl already told me it doesnt matter, its beautiful. *g*

Ongoing:

Still cant believe it, I finally finished all the quilting on my friendshipstar quilt. Started it more than 4 years ago, finished the top more than 2 years ago and quilted from time to time 1 of the squares. Thought it will never get finished, but the last days I thought I really want to get it done, so I quilted the whole time just on my own quilt and voilá  - finished. Just need to prepare binding today and sew it on.

Finishes:

1) Dresden Pillow - finished my first Dresden Pillow, and totally love it so easy and fast.

2) Hexie Pillow –- I used a tutorial by Modern Handcraft, it looked totally easy but it wasnt so easy like I first thought. Had quite some problems with all this glueing things, but at the end, its not perfect, but I like it anyway.

3) Every Which Way Quilt –- Totally proud of this quilt, using the first time my soon to be released pattern and Amelie is loving it too. More about it here.

Ongoing:

Once Upon A Time Sampler -–Started March, its totally cute, but already made a mistake, one of the middle pigs ears is a bit off, so I have to fix it.

Q2 FAL – Finish # 1 – Dresden Pillow

My first finish for this Quarter and I really love it, and never thought that dresden is this easy, dont know why I waited so long to try them.   This pillow is listed here in the Q2 FAL List.
